In 2012, our founders embarked on research and development in biotechnology carbon capture at the University of Calgary, all the while actively engaged in the energy industry and witnessing the environmental impact of natural resource extraction, including the generation of substantial waste, such as tailings ponds.
After years of diligent development and optimization, our founders, all seasoned practical engineers, pooled their expertise to transition our technologies from the laboratory to real-world applications, offering commercial solutions that enable companies to simultaneously remediate waste, particularly tailings, and employ them as carbon sinks to offset and mitigate emissions.
We are utilizing the natural carbon sequestration capabilities of algae, which can be found on every continent. By utilizing existing infrastructure such as tailings ponds and other naturally occurring algal blooms, we are reducing land use and minimizing the disruption of other natural ecosystems. At Algal Earth, everything we do is optimized for carbon capture, as we recognize the importance of addressing the emissions humanity has generated over the past two decades.Â
